December is upon us. For some that means snow and cold, blustery winds. For others, not so much (and I should come visit you). For all of us, however, it is time to renew our membership with USA Swimming. In order to do any volunteer travel for USA Swimming, you must be a current member with the organization. Registration forms can be found online through your LSC. Many athlete representatives may have already been taken care of through their clubs. If you have not received a 2010 membership card in the mail, please check with your team, parents, college team, etc. It is your responsibility to keep this up to date and it only takes a few minutes to complete.
Also, last year, there was an athlete movement to support the USA Swimming Foundation. I encourage every athlete to continue this effort, whether that contribution be large or small. As athletes, it is imperative to support the growth of our sport and, for me, it is exciting to be able to share my sport with those who may not otherwise be able to participate. You can contribute at whatever level you feel comfortable, everything from specific dollar amounts to sponsoring swim lessons.
Thank you so much for the time you commit to our sport out of the water!
